Book Publishing Website Design for Noemi Press

See how we designed an accessible, engaging website for a book publishing client to showcase titles and connect with readers.

Project Overview

Noemi Press is a nonprofit independent publisher based in Tucson, Arizona.

They approached Desert Wing Design with a goal: to redesign their outdated and broken website into a professional, accessible platform that could support their growing catalog and increase book sales.

This project exemplifies how effective book publishing website design can help presses strengthen their presence online.

The Challenge

Before our collaboration, Noemi Press faced several issues common to small publishers:

  • An outdated design that didn’t reflect the quality of their titles
  • Difficult navigation and no mobile optimization
  • Lack of accessibility features, excluding many users
  • Limited ability to manage content or promote new releases
  • No clear organization for book series or collections

These issues hindered discoverability, sales, and audience trust.

Our Approach

We kicked off the project with our Website Workshop to align on goals and gather strategic insights. From there, our team:

  • Delivered a fresh, clean layout designed for their audience
  • Built the site on WordPress for easy content management
  • Applied WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards
  • Created a flexible catalog system to showcase their book series
  • Provided training and tools for ongoing content updates

This custom solution reflects best practices in book publishing website design and gives the Noemi team full control over their digital storefront.

The Results

The new website now aligns with Noemi Press’s mission and values, delivering a significantly improved user experience through a mobile-friendly, accessible design.

It also features streamlined catalog pages, faster load times, enhanced SEO, and increased direct book sales.

Client Testimonial

Graham and his team worked with our publishing company to take a completely broken-down website and turn it into something fresh, new, and functional (not to mention much more accessible than before). We had the best experience with Desert Wing Design and have seen sales growth as a result of the changes they helped us make, including new branding materials. I highly recommend Desert Wing as a conscientious, skilled, and reliable team.
